Yesterday, I saw a thing of beauty.
I saw a sea of people sitting in stiff, awkward postures awaiting their flights. This was NOT the thing of beauty.
I saw this sea’s antithesis: 2 teenagers, who had fashioned a tennis court out of items from their luggage. They had drawn a line with shirts, and they used their shoes as rackets to play makeshift tennis.
I thought: “THIS is what heaven looks like.”
Fitness isn’t just found in your gym. It’s everywhere in your life, if you get off your rear and have some creativity.
If you’re just not the awesome type to fashion makeshift tennis at the airport, here are additional fitness ideas:
1. Take stairs instead of the escalator. Your carry-on is not that heavy.
2. Skip the speed walk and walk a little more briskly to catch people taking it.
3. Skip shuttles and skylines. Just walk to your gate!
4. Don’t sit and wait for your flight. You’re about to be forced to sit while the seatbelt light is on. Get up and move around while you can.
5. Find a corner for some basic mobility drills, or do your assigned correctives.
Fitness is where you find it. You can find it in every aspect of life. Your gym time can’t undo the 13 hours of the day that you aren’t there
Build fitness into the entire day – even at the airport.
