My earliest memory is age 1.
I watched my father get pinned between two cars. He was 37 – very close to my age.
He was taken to the hospital on a gurney. But he drove us home in his truck a few hours later. He had only a few scratches.
How is that possible? How did he turn his body into steel, and prevent the cars from smashing him?
He is Dooley Strong. He unlocked the potential within all of us.
Last night, I thought of my earliest memory as I stood on the beach with an 18 kilo KB. As I geared up to pistol squat the bell, I had another flashback.
One year and three months ago, Matthew Tolstoy introduced me to the Kettlebell. I bought a 6 kilo bell and took it with me to Grenada – to the sand beach upon which I currently stood.
3.5 months later, I was an RKC.
One year after he introduced me to the bell, I completed my first body weight pistol squat.
3.5 months after that – yesterday – I did my first 18 kilo pistol squat on that same beach.
One year and a little over 3 months I’ve been on this journey, and my strength and dedication have been directly proportional.
This may not be awesome to some. Big deal, right?
But to me – it’s seen me unlocking my potential. It has reminded me of my father – keeping a pregnant woman’s crazy husband from smashing her car by allowing himself to be pinned. Yet, he walked away.
I have to store an inkling of that potential within me. All it needs for unleashing is trust, diligence and patience. And it carries over into every aspect of life.
I hope you start to unlock your potential. I’m here to help.
